This week one of our portfolio companies, ReverbNation announced that they acquired a startup company called Sound Around. Sound Around is focused on creating custom mobile apps for bands.
I originally met Steve and Scott Klein (founders of Sound Around) early last year after I spoke at NC State. I got to know them better when they both participated in the NC Tech Tours that we do several times a year with NC State. Steve and Scott also participated in Calling All Entrepreneurs when we held it last year. Then we met over coffee and then later.... even more coffee. I was really impressed with how smart and laser focused they were and their passion for building a company. After I got to know them, I connected them to other entrepreneurs in the community - including Scot and Taylor.
But the most valuable introduction was most recently when I connected them to Mike & Jed at ReverbNation. Since they almost left the region at one point, I am really glad to see the Sound Around guys stay here in NC and be a big part of the mobile strategy at ReverbNation.
