Capital Connections Brings Together Hundreds of Early Stage Companies & Investors

David and I were in Atlanta this week and attended the second quarterly Capital Connections event which is run by Michael Blake and Scott Burkett.

As a reminder, the event is exclusively for investors and tech entrepreneurs. It has been free to attend.

Capital Connections is always very informal and some companies bring laptops and demo their technology. It was great to meet so many new people and with badges clearly marked, I could easily identify the entrepreneurs and the industry they were focused on.

The quick highlights before I leave for the weekend are that 300+ registered and it was once again packed. I met entrepreneurs running companies from seed stage all the way to an internet retailer doing $2m in revenue.

I think the investor attendance was a little light this time around which was disappointing. I know a bunch of VCs that were planning to be there, but couldn't make it for a variety of reasons. Next time.

I really think this event is worthwhile and we need more events like this. We continue to be a proud supporter and once again appreciate all the time Scott and the team put into making this happen.. I know they worked really hard. Stuff like this is very positive especially for the Atlanta entrepreneurial community and I look forward to the next one.

Southeast Venture Conference Announces Next Conference in Northern VA

TechJournal South announced plans today for the next Southeast Venture Conference which will be held in February at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA.

The conference was held earlier this year in Cary, NC and had very strong attendance.

The SEVC will continue to be very focused on the entrepreneur. I heard from many of them that it was one of the best venture conferences they've ever attended with the amount of national VCs. I know several entrepreneurs that met the VC there that actually ended up investing in their company. Proof that this conference works!

Southeast Entrepreneurs and VCs to Gather at Capital Connections in Atlanta

I am looking forward to heading back to Atlanta later this month for StartupLounge.com's Capital Connections and I want to give it another plug. I talked about it back in May after we attended their first event. Now, this one promises to be even bigger. First, word has spread throughout the entrepreneurial community in Atlanta that this is a kickass event that is exclusively put together for them and investors. Second, the organizers (Scott Burkett & Michael Blake) have very wisely decided to open this up to entrepreneurs throughout the Southeast.

The event is free to attend and my guess is that they will have close to 400 people there. If you are an investor (angel or VC) or a company wanting to network with other entrepreneurs & investors, I would definitely recommend you register in advance.
